Description/Job Summary

 
Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & leading international basic apparel company, has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer at its corporate headquarters in Bowling Green, KY.

Proactive and pragmatic problem solver with the ability to analyze, design and develop complete business solutions. Must have a firm understanding of design methodology and excellent communication and collaborative skills. Ability to solve complex problems quickly and completely.  Expected to act as team leader on projects, conduct system analysis, perform development tasks and keep systems current with changing technologies. Responsible for guiding projects through their full lifecycle e.g. requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, acceptance and deployment.  Responsible for analysis of current systems including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of systems and recommendation of solutions to existing and potential problems. Test new programs by writing test cases and utilizing automated testing tools to ensure that logic is correct and that program results meet any performance criteria and are accurate. Document code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions and any changes made in database tables on procedural, modular and database level. Assist in scheduling and coordinating projects. Assist in training less-experienced software development staff.
 

Responsibilities/Duties

Conduct system analysis and development of complete business solutions
Conduct analysis of current systems including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of systems and recommendation of solutions to existing and potential problems
Test new programs by writing test cases and utilizing automated testing tools to ensure that logic is correct and that program results are accurate.
Responsible for documenting code consistently throughout the development process by listing a description of the program, special instructions and any changes made in database tables and procedural, modular and database level.

Required Experience

5-7 years of experience in system design and programming work experience, including major systems development and implementation experience

Hands on experience in designing and developing web applications using Java, Spring Framework, Javascript, JQuery and AngularJS

Excellent knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle Database or PostgresSQL

Experience with test-driven development and Agile/Scrum software development methodologies      

Required Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
Proven ability to analyze end users' needs and design, construct, deploy, and maintain general computer application software or specialized utility programs
Ability to update, repair, modify and expand existing programs and/or systems
Proficient knowledge in application, database and web standards and practices
Strong Problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work with abstract concepts and to do technical analysis 
Understanding of programming language constructs and algorithm
