Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & leading international basic apparel company, has an immediate opening for a Marketing Manager at its corporate headquarters in Bowling Green, KY. The
Marketing Manager has responsibility and accountability for the brand /business to ultimately drive business unit growth and profitability (P&L responsibility). Responsible for short and long-range brand strategies inclusive of pricing, product mix, brand
communication, consumer segmentation and targeting, distribution, etc.
The Manager represents the business across the organization and works cross-functionally to achieve goals. Also, this position will almost always have direct reports depending on business assignment, and will develop and mentor teams accordingly.
Brand / Business Strategy
Collaborate with manager in the development and execution of short-term and long-term business strategies. Responsible for ensuring that the work and the tactics support the brand/category strategies and objectives.
Manage in direct partnership with cross-functional teams the multiple marketing projects at various stages to a successful and timely execution. Requires strong coordination across the various teams to ensure business objectives are met.
• Assist manager in the completion of marketing initiatives in partnership with the cross-functional teams and potential external partners.
• Develop and manage project calendar.
• Maintain an updated status report on project elements with clear action items and deliverables and follow-up with cross-functional team members and agencies as needed to ensure all project elements are on track.
In conjunction with manager will approve materials as needed to secure progress and ultimate completion
Product Portfolio Management
Manage the internal process to articulate product strategy for seasonal newness, roadmap and priorities as well as long term planning.
P&L / Budget Management
Responsible for assigned brand(s) budget including P&L responsibility. Work with Finance to develop and manage brand P&L by monitoring progress and evaluating performance. Reports on financial expenditures related to initiatives.
Pricing / Trade Promotions
Manage the development of pricing recommendations by analyzing cost, list price and suggested retail price to achieve FTL and retailer target margins. Collaborate with team to provide recommendations to the business for trade and consumer promotional strategies.
Communications / Presentation
Presentation creation and delivery across internal teams and potential external partners. Ensures that team is providing messaging that is appropriate for the target audience. Facilitate meaningful discussion around feedback in order to move a project forward.
Business Analytics & Reporting
Routine and ad hoc analysis and reporting. Track and measure metrics that support the goals and strategic imperatives of the various initiatives and communicate to appropriate management.
Distribution / Placement Strategies
Develop retailer strategies to gain new business opportunities. Drives sell-in by presenting brand initiatives to key accounts at meetings and trade events.
Provide management to members of Marketing team. Assist in training of department staff on marketing processes and procedures. Responsible for day-to-day management of assigned staff. Manages performance and provides timely feedback. Support the continuous
improvement of the marketing team process and performance.
Website Content Management
Responsible for optimizing brand presence and product assortment on internal and retailer websites. Oversee the maintenance of all web site content ensuring team has captured the most relevant information and messaging.
Inventory Management & Forecasting
Monitor retail sales and consumer demand trends to manage the forecast and maximize inventory levels.
Management of Creative Projects / Process
Successfully execute creative projects to drive branding and business goals.
Requires 5 - 7 years of consumer marketing experience Proven ability to oversee all marketing activities for assigned brand(s)
Travel is required.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field. MBA preferred.
General management approach to business and experienced in developing marketing strategies leveraging all marketing mix elements: Product, Pricing, Promotion / Advertising, Distribution strategies.
Solid financial acumen.
Strong leadership skills applicable across the organization.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Effective presentation skills.
Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and interface with various levels of management.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making skills.
