Green, KY or New York, NY area. The Designer’s role is to lead the concept creation for new and updated product solutions. This position leads the collection of trends for their assigned category and must communicate/present trends and designs to internal
and external decision makers. The Designer utilizes a strong understanding of the category, consumer’s emotional needs, line direction and trends to design garments that meet strategy expectations. Further, the Designer must utilize construction and costing
knowledge to design products that meet the market needs while meeting the category financial metrics.
Partner with Merchandising and Marketing to assort line and develop product appropriate for business needs. Plan the line to ensure product is consistent with consumer needs, market trends and business strategy. Responsible for conceptual development of
product lines (i.e. presents, sells ideas/concepts and influences others to adopt a product strategy). Create and present design boards/prototypes for each season to showcase silhouette, fabric, benefits and product trend direction.
Effectively communicate product details accurately and comprehensively to all parties during product development execution to include, but not limited to: PLM concept set up, sample orders, fabric development requests, concept cost requests and design tech
packets. Work closely with Product Engineers to ensure PLM design tech packs are complete and accurate.
Responsible for building and maintaining category expertise by consistently shopping and researching marketplace for inspiration, product trend direction and competitor insights.
Manage the design process from concept to completion while partnering with the Director to ensure alignment on priorities and direction.
Responsible for selecting the appropriate fabrics and components to achieve cost targets and deliver the features and benefits for the desired user experience. Ensure product is being designed within cost parameters.
Establish design intent and ensure brand desired user fit experience by collaborating with Product Engineers and Pattern. Responsible for molding and providing pad development direction to mold technician with minimum guidance from Director.
5+ years of experience in bra design
Bachelors or Associate degree in Design, required
Proficient knowledge of sewing techniques, pattern construction, pad development, fitting and grading of bras
Must have technical flat sketch ability
Proficient in computerized assisted systems (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, PLM)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong presentation skills
Seasonal travel for research, customer presentations and product development
