Description/Job Summary

Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & leading international basic apparel company, has an immediate opening for a Operations Manager at its Monroeville, AL facility.

The Operation Manager coordinates the operational aspects of the Distribution Center and assists in establishing and implementing the strategic direction.
Enhances customer service by resolving operational issues and ensuirng the efficient and punctual delivery of goods and services.
May fill the role of Distribution Center Manager in their absence.


  • Oversees and directs distribution facility operations as established by the Distribution Center Manager.
  • Manages and coordinates as required the daily activities of managers and staff. Enforces compliance with administration and operational policy and procedures.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve distribution processes and methods. Utilizes DMAIC methodology to examine current processes, implement process improvements and measure results. Also assists in planning workforce utilization and space requirements to ensure efficient resource utilization for maximum efficiency and cost savings.
  • Communicate proactively with the Distribution Center Manager concerning DC operations relative to costs, inventory stocking status, and product replenishment.
  • Directs the enforcement of active safety awareness with all safety programs.

Required Experience

5+ years of distribution/ logistics work experience, inclusive of 2+ years of management experience with multi-million dollar responsibility

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Professional certification in inventory management or distribution management is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of receipt, storage, retrieval, shipping and transportation methods and operating procedures.
  • Must have a background in automated inventory control managements systems and integration processes. Strong Microsoft Office skills. 
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign).
Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift.
Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
